C. Gem Appraisal Company was founded in 1996 by Heather Coggins and is backed by professional experience appraising for all the major retail jewelers and many independent jewelers nationwide for over ten years. Our “while you wait and watch” service provided these jewelers with the opportunity to offer their customers an unbiased third party expert assessment as to the quality and value of their jewelry. C. Gem Appraisal Company does not buy or sell jewelry we just appraise it, therefore providing our customers with a truly unbiased opinion.
Heather began her career by working at jewelry stores from a young age and through her love and fascination of diamonds and gemstones decided to pursue a Graduate Gemologist degree at what is regarded to be the highest and foremost authority in gemological education, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). In addition to the Graduate Gemologist diploma Heather has also earned certification in the following GIA courses: Detecting Treated and Synthetic Gemstones and Detecting Treated and Synthetic Diamonds and is also a member of The National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.
Heather attended the Santa Monica California Campus and immediately after graduation took a position with a diamond cutter where she not only learned about the cutting process firsthand but also graded each diamond as it came off the cutting wheel before it was presented to the public for purchase. This experience and application of gemological education provided the idea and foundation of forming an appraisal company. C. Gem Appraisal Company has performed thousands of appraisals on diamonds and commonly known gemstones as well as unusual and rare gemstones and many older privately owned museum quality collector jewels.
A true love of this profession benefits our customers with the most accurate and descriptive appraisal available, beautifully presented with color digital photographs. In the unfortunate event a loss should occur there should be no questions as to the quality, value, and appearance of the item. Before a gemologist is hired by this company to perform appraisals they must meet the highest of expectations and go through rigorous training and testing to ensure they provide the customers with the highest standard appraisal. We are able to offer services nationwide and are insured by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company.
